For some time now, we've known that Harold and Kumar's next adventure wouldn't take them to White Castle, Guantanemo Bay or even the fabled Amsterdam — instead, they would be celebrating the Christmas holiday with all of the gross-out hilarity we've come to expect from these mismatched amigos.

Now, we know a whole lot more, thanks to a press release from Mandate Pictures and New Line Cinema. The third installment in the continuing "Harold & Kumar" saga — once called "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas," though there's no mention of that title in the press release — takes place several years after the events of "Guantanemo Bay," presenting moviegoers with an older but perhaps not-so-wiser version of these misfortunate heroes.

Six years have elapsed since "Guantanemo Bay," leaving Harold and Kumar estranged from one another with very different families, friends and lives. But when Kumar arrives on Harold's doorstep during the holiday season with a mysterious package in hand, he inadvertently burns down Harold's father-in-law's beloved Christmas tree. To fix the problem, Harold and Kumar embark on a mission through New York City to find the perfect Christmas tree, once again stumbling into trouble at every single turn.

The previously revealed Neil Patrick Harris is rejoining the cast, and the fact that six years have passed between the last film and the latest "Harold & Kumar" outing lends some credibility to the fact that NPH is still alive. But he's not the only notable contributor coming aboard, as "Reno 911" comedian Tom Lennon, Patton Oswalt and "Machete" himself, Danny Trejo, are also bringing their considerable presences to bear down on John Cho and Kal Penn.

With principal photography already underway, it sounds as if another fun "Harold & Kumar" adventure is well on its way towards movie theaters.
